When it comes to building safe, durable, and reliable enclosures for zoos and wildlife parks, material choice is critical. The primary goal of any animal enclosure is to provide a secure and comfortable environment for the animals, while ensuring the safety of visitors and staff. One of the most effective solutions widely adopted in modern zoological facilities is crimped wire mesh.

Crimped wire mesh is a type of woven wire mesh made with pre-crimped wires, which interlock tightly to create a strong and stable structure. Its unique design and mechanical strength make it an excellent choice for zoo applications, especially for large and powerful animals such as tigers, lions, and bears.

In tiger habitats, safety and strength are non-negotiable. Tigers are powerful animals capable of applying immense force against barriers. Crimped wire mesh, with its robust interlocked design, provides the necessary resistance to ensure that enclosures remain secure while still offering a natural viewing experience.

The mechanical performance of zoo fencing is directly related to wire diameter and mesh aperture:

Wire diameter: 4.0-8.0 mm is commonly used for large predators. Thicker wire provides higher tensile strength and resistance to impact.

Mesh aperture: 30x30 mm to 60x60 mm is standard, depending on animal size. Smaller apertures prevent animals from reaching through the mesh.
